What kind of work do you need a student for?

Looking to hire a Dalhousie student or graduate? Under each type of employment is a list of offices that can assist you with the opportunity you want to recruit for.


As graduation approaches, students start to seek out career opportunities. Their career search begins in the fall when they start their final year of study and it continues through to the spring. Recent grads and alumni also use our Career Services Centre to seek out full-time opportunities.

Offices that help fill full-time positions:


Internships are periods of practical, supervised, on-the-job training desgined to give required skills and knowledge for entry into a trade or profession. Interns are advanced students or recent graduates in a professional field who want practical experience to add to their periods of formal education.

Students from all academic programs and education levels constantly seek part-time employment opportunities to build skills or earn income while studying.


Summer is an integral employment period for students. From May to September, they seek out all sorts of opportunities. Co-operative Education students are available for summer work terms.

The volunteer sector benefits from the enthusiasm students bring to volunteer opportunities. Students gain by building skills and experience.

Co-operative Education

Co-op Education is a partnership between the university, employers and students. Students complement their academic study with paid work experience in their field of study. Students in Co-operative Education complete four month work terms throughout the year (Summer, Fall and Winter).
