Jeremy Ryant

Jeremy is a Juris Doctor student at Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law. He is the Chief Returning Officer of the Law Students’ Society and the Treasurer of the John E Read International Law Students’ Society. Jeremy is also an Associate Editor for the Dalhousie Journal of Legal Studies and the Head of Strategy and Planning for PoliPerspective Newsletter.

Jeremy graduated from Dalhousie in 2016 with an Honours BA in Political Science and International Development Studies. Upon graduation, he received the Eric Denis Gold Medal in Political Science and the James H. Aitchison Award. In 2014, he received the Commonwealth Political Science Prize. In 2015, Jeremy was named a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholar and was a Food Security Policy Intern at the Food Rights Alliance – a nationally recognized NGO in Kampala, Uganda. In 2016, Jeremy was one of three Canadian students to be awarded a Jaimie Anderson Parliamentary Internship.

During his undergraduate degree, Jeremy served terms as President and Vice President-Finance on Dalhousie’s Varsity Council. He was a volunteer and Vice President-Finance for the Special Tigers Society. Jeremy also led Movember campaigns, organized fundraisers for Coldest Night of the Year, and volunteered with the Get Real movement. Jeremy has sat on the DSU Budgetary Review Committee and two Swim Nova Scotia standing committees. A 4-time CIS Academic All-Canadian and First-Team AUS All-Star, Jeremy currently co-manages the Varsity Swim Team.

In 2016, he received the Board of Governors’ Award for his exceptional contributions and leadership in the extracurricular realm. Upon completing his first year of Law, Jeremy received the Borden Ladner Gervais Professional Excellence Award for academic excellence and leadership.
