Dr. Carolan McLarney

Dr. McLarney joined Dalhousie University in 1999. She is currently a Full Professor in the Faculty of Management’s Rowe School of Business, where she teaches International Business and Strategic Management. She is an award winning teacher and researcher. She holds the Faculty of Management Teaching Excellence Award (2010, 2008, 2005), MBA Professor of the Year (2015, 2014, 2008), Commerce Professor of the Year (2010, 2008, 2001), DSU Teaching Excellence Award (2008), and the A. Gordon Archibald Award for Teaching Excellence (2003). In 2013 she was named Researcher of the Year for the Rowe School of Business.

During her time at Dalhousie she has had administrative duties serving both as Senate Vice Chair (Academic Programs) from 2009-2013 and as the Director of the Centre for International Business Studies from 2001-2004.

Over the past 25 years, Dr. McLarney has served as a Board member for a variety of firms, both public and private. She has also worked with organizations in the non-profit sector. She continues to consult for companies both domestic and international.

She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Windsor and she completed her Doctoral degree in Strategic Planning and International Business at the Schulich School of Business, York University.

Prior to completing her doctorate, Dr. McLarney held management positions in various firms in the healthcare, transportation, and consulting sectors.
