What is the NECSC?

The Northeast Campus Sustainability Consortium (NECSC) was established in October 2004 to support the goals of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development by advancing campus sustainability action in the northeast region. Participants at the 2004 meeting at the University of New Hampshire agreed to form a consortium and to meet annually through 2014, the final year of the UN Decade period. The 2005 meeting was hosted by Harvard University and 2006 at Yale University. The purpose of the conferences is to provide close networking opportunities, professional development, and access to the area’s vibrant and growing college and university sustainability practitioner community, while assessing the region’s progress towards meeting the UN Decade goals such as promoting the vision of and transition to sustainable development – through all forms of education, public awareness and training. We represent a growing network of institutions of higher education from the northeast United States and Eastern Canadian Provinces.
