Radiation Safety Training

Initial Training

It is a Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and a Dalhousie University policy that those who will be handling radioactive materials must participate in the first training session available to them after joining their respective research groups.

Radiation Safety Training is required for all personnel at Dalhousie who will be handling nuclear substances under a Nuclear Substance User Permit. Radiation Safety Training sessions consist of various hands-on activities and presentations conducted by Jill Robertson, RSO, and other members of the Radiation Safety Team.

The following Radiation Safety Training sessions are currently being offered in 2021:

  • Wednesday December 8th

Training sessions run for one full day (including lunch and coffee breaks) and take place in the Sir Charles Tupper Medical Building. Training sessions have limited availability and attendees must register with the RSO.

Please complete the Training Registration form to register for this session. Completed registration forms, as well as any questions or concerns, can be directed to Jill Robertson.

Please review the Radiation Safety Training Manual [PDF - 1.5 MB] prior to the training session.
