The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) is pleased to announce the relaunching of the Connection Grants arm of the Initiative for Digital Citizen Research (IDCR), a joint initiative with the Department of Canadian Heritage (PCH) and one component of Canadian Heritage’s Digital Citizen Initiative.

The IDCR aims to develop a better understanding of the impacts of online disinformation in Canada, in order to better inform programs and policies, and to build Canada’s capacity to conduct research on – and related to – countering online disinformation and other related online harms. This initiative will also help foster a community of researchers engaged with digital citizenship and online disinformation in Canada.

IDCR funding will be offered to meritorious and relevant projects submitted to the Connection Grants funding opportunity starting from (application deadline) February 1, 2021.

In addition to the relaunched IDCR-CGs, IDCR will continue to offer funding through IDCR Insight Grants supplements; IDCR Postdoctoral Fellowship supplements for SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship holders; and IDCR Doctoral Award supplements for holders of SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships or Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarships Program—Doctoral Scholarships.

For more information on IDCR funding and how to apply, please refer to the joint initiative description.
