SSHRC Explore and Exchange Grants

Posted by Jaq-Lin Larder on March 4, 2019 in Research Funding

SSHRC Explore and Exchange Grants, funded through Dalhousie’s SSHRC Institutional Grant, support activities that develop, increase, or strengthen research excellence in the social sciences and humanities at Dalhousie University.

The grant guidelines and application forms have been updated for 2019:

Explore Grants can be used to develop a research project or conduct pilot work to help seed an external grant application in the social sciences and humanities (e.g. SSHRC Insight Grant).

The maximum funding value per grant is $5,000.

The Explore Grant guidelines and application form are available here [PDF - 132 KB].

Exchange Grants can be used to fund knowledge mobilization (KM) activities, namely to travel to a conference or to organize a KM activity such as a conference or workshop. Proposed activities must help seed new external grant applications in the social sciences and humanities or disseminate the results of SSHRC-funded research.

The maximum funding value per grant is $2,000 to travel to a conference or $5,000 to organize a KM activity.

The Exchange Grant guidelines and application form are available here [PDF - 153 KB].

The annual deadline for both grant competitions is May 1, 4:30pm.
