Council of Canadian Academies (CCA) Board of Directors

Posted by Danielle Andres on October 15, 2018 in Announcements

The Government of Canada has launched an open selection process to fill a director position (Ministerial nominee) on the Council of Canadian Academies (CCA) Board of Directors.

The CCA is a not‑for‑profit organization that supports evidence‑based, expert assessments to inform public policy development in Canada. Its purpose is to provide Canadians with a credible, independent source of expert knowledge of the science underlying key public policy issues. The CCA’s work encompasses a broad definition of science, incorporating the natural, social, and health sciences, as well as engineering and the humanities. The CCA is led by a 12‑member Board of Directors, which is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization, ensuring fulfillment of the Council’s mandate, and providing oversight of the Council’s operations.

The Government of Canada is applying a rigorous approach to ministerial appointments built on an open, transparent, and merit‑based selection process‎. This approach reflects the fundamental role that Canadians play in our democracy as they serve on commissions, boards, Crown corporations, agencies, and tribunals across the country. It results in the recommendation of high‑quality candidates who truly reflect Canada’s diversity and bolsters the confidence of Canadians in these important organizations.

Further information on the CCA director (Ministerial nomination) selection process can be found on the Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada webpage. Interested candidates must submit their applications by email by October 22, 2018.
