Posted by Jaq-Lin Larder on June 25, 2018 in Research Funding

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) recently launched a Rapid Research Fund for Ebola Virus Disease Outbreaks. This fund is intended to support social sciences, humanities, public health and/or health systems research aimed at more effectively containing the current Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as potential future outbreaks, more readily.

Partnerships between African and Canadian researchers are mandatory.  This call is intended to fund collaborative partnerships between Canadian and African researchers based out of established, research-oriented organizations in North and sub-Saharan Africa and Canada. Teams must be interdisciplinary, with a fully-integrated social science and health systems research component.

The total budget for this call is $1.5 million, with funds contributed by IDRC, SSHRC and CIHR. A minimum of 4 teams will receive grants of up to $360,000 over two years (2018-20).

Please visit IDRC’s website for more information and links to the guidelines and application form.

Any faculty member interested in this opportunity is asked to contact the International Research Manager in Dalhousie Research Services (jennifer.morawiecki@dal.ca) for more information and support in preparing an application.
