ERA PerMed is a new ERA-Net Cofund, supported by 31 partners in 22 countries (iuncluding CIHR in Canada) and cofunded by the European Commission. It has launched a Joint Transnational Call for collaborative innovative research projects in Personalised Medicine (PM), to align national research strategies, promote excellence, reinforce the competitiveness of European players in PM, and enhance European collaboration with non-EU countries. The overall aim of the call is to fund projects showing clinical feasibility of PM in complex diseases (including multifactorial, monogenic and other diseases).
Canadians participating in successful projects will be funded via CIHR Team Grants. The total amount available to Canadian researchers from CIHR and FRQS is $4,587,500 CAD, enough to fund ten (10) grants. The maximum amount available is $150,000 CAD per year for up to three (3) years for a total of $450,000 CAD, per grant.
Canadian applicants must liaise with their lead European partners, who will coordinate the submission of pre- and full applications. Canadian applicants must also complete a CIHR application at full application stage, and submit it through ResearchNet. The purpose of this additional application to CIHR is to provide CIHR with an Operating Budget for the project (with the amounts quoted in Canadian dollars, and a complete justification for funds requested).
The deadline for pre-proposals is 10 April 2018, with full proposals to be submitted by 5 July 2018. Full details are available here.
Any faculty member interested in this opportunity is asked to contact the International Research Manager (jennifer.morawiecki@dal.ca) for more information and support in preparing an application.
