Dear Colleagues,
Following from my message last week regarding the 2017 Scotia Support Grant Program, the Research Trainee Working Group met yesterday to review the results of a recent program evaluation (including Scotia Support Grant and Scotia Scholar Award). Upon review and discussion, the Working Group advised NSHRF that the Scotia Support Grant should be discontinued for 2017. Evaluation results suggested that the original goal of supporting research trainees could be better achieved using more direct methods of support. The Scotia Scholars Award Program will proceed as scheduled.
In the coming weeks, NSHRF will develop alternate plans to deploy this funding for research trainees and we will be seeking your input. In the meantime, please let me know if you have any questions.
