Interested in Child Health Research?

The CFRI Scholars of Excellence Program is for trainees who have demonstrated research independence within their doctoral or medical training, and are looking for the opportunity to generate innovative research under the mentorship of world-class researchers based at CFRI and BC Children's Hospital.

The program has been developed to attract new talent to CFRI and build on the breadth of global children's and women's health expertise on the Oak Street Campus.

Who is eligible?
Applicants who have completed a PhD, PhD-equivalent, MD, or PhD-MD less than three years from the award start date are welcome to apply.

Applicants with more than three years post PhD or MD due to a career delay or interruption (family or health reasons), or for dedicated clinical training (residency and/or fellowship) will have their eligibility window extended on a case-by-case basis. For full eligibility details, please refer to the Program Guidelines.

What funding is available?
The program provides:

  • A generous stipend of $70,000 / year for 3 – 5 years
  • Funds for research-related expenses ($10,000/year in the first two years)
  • Travel expenses to attend conferences ($3,000/year in the first two years)

How to apply?
Complete the application form (available online) and submit to reseduc@cfri.ca by Tuesday, December 1, 2015. Short-listed applicants will be notified in January and may be asked to attend a recruitment visit at CFRI in February.
