Canada‑Brazil Awards for Joint Research Projects

Posted by Alana Milner on December 15, 2014 in Research Funding

The Canada-Brazil Awards for Joint Research Projects, which are funded in Canada by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade & Development (DFATD) and administered by the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), have just launched a call for proposals for 2015-17.

This awards scheme supports exchanges of PhD students in the context of team-based bilateral research projects between Canadian and Brazilian universities. The awards are thus aimed at encouraging research collaboration as well as graduate student mobility. Funding may be awarded for up to two years (with a possibility of an extension of up to two more years), and will support the exchange of Brazilian and Canadian PhD students (maximum of five per year, from each country). Funds are also available for short-term faculty visits by the Canadian and Brazilian faculty project leaders.

Note that at the time of application, there must be a formal Memorandum of Understanding or similar agreement in place, between the Canadian and Brazilian institutions.

Full details of this awards scheme, and links to the application form, can be found here.

Any faculty member interested in applying is asked to contact Jennifer Morawiecki in IR&D, for more information and support.

Deadline for applications is March 2, 2015
