Deadline (Application): Green Talents Award 2022

The submission period for the Green Talents Competition 2022 is open now. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has held the prestigious “Green Talents – International Forum for High Potentials in Sustainable Development” to promote the international exchange of ideas regarding green solutions since 2009. The award, whose patron is Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger, honours 25 young researchers from around the world each year. The winners come from various scientific disciplines and are recognised for their outstanding achievements in making our societies more sustainable. The call is open to ALL disciplines.

The Green Talents are selected by a high-ranking jury of German experts and are granted unique access to the country’s leading sustainability research specialists. The 2022 Green Talents award includes:

• an invitation to the Virtual Science Forum 2022, consisting of

− virtual visits to leading German sustainability institutions and companies which provide exclusive insights into their work
− individual meetings with German experts of applicant’s own choice to explore opportunities for research collaborations
− a wide range of workshops dedicated to the SDGs and advancing applicant’s scientific career
− networking opportunities with fellow Green Talents, participating Green Talents alumni and outstanding German researchers
− invitation to the top-class Award Ceremony with selected guests

• a fully funded on-site research stay of up to three months at a German institution of applicant’s choice in 2023

• exclusive access to the prestigious Green Talents alumni network of currently 307 high potentials in sustainable development from 72 countries.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Master’s/PhD students, postdocs, and young professionals with no more than three years of professional work experience
  • Strong focus on sustainable development and an interdisciplinary approach
  • Strong interest in establishing collaborations with Germany‘s leading scientific experts
  • Excellent command of English and above-average grades
  • Not a German citizen nor a resident of Germany
