Deadline (Applications): Dalhousie’s Internal Research Awards

The Office of the Vice President Research and Innovation is excited to celebrate our research community and welcomes nominations for a broad suite of Dalhousie research awards:

  1. President’s Research Excellence Awards – Emerging Investigator
  2. President’s Research Excellence Awards - Impact
  3. University Research Professorship
  4. Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Chairs (details pending)

Nomination packages for each must be submitted by Wednesday, May 12.  Each package should be formatted in a single pdf file, and can be sent directly, to Maureen.Keough@dal.ca

Recognizing that Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strengthens research, consideration for EDI practices must be given in each nomination.

Descriptions for each award can be found in the attached Call and details regarding eligibility and the elements of a complete nomination package can be found in the attached Terms of Reference.

Dalhousie University President’s Research Excellence Awards

These Awards have been created to recognize the research achievements of Dalhousie faculty members at all stages of their careers.

There are two categories of award: 1) The President’s Award for Emerging Investigators [PDF - 113 KB] will be presented annually to outstanding young career researchers who are within seven (7) years of their first independent academic appointments; 2) the President’s Award for Research Impact [PDF 115 KB] will be awarded annually to outstanding investigators, in any field, to recognize and celebrate major research contributions within the last three to five years that have had significant impact.

Up to six (6) awards will be presented to Emerging Investigators.

Up to three (3) awards will be presented for Research Impact.

University Research Professorships

The title of University Research Professor [PDF - 101 KB] is granted to a limited number of individual Dalhousie faculty members who have achieved distinction in scholarship. The title recognizes significant contributions to research and scholarship made throughout a career. It is an acknowledgement of a faculty member’s research productivity and impact.
