Graduate-level Certificates in Translational NeuroTechnology (TNT I & TNT II)

Who can apply

RADIANT offers two Graduate-level Certificates open to Dalhousie's Master's and PhD students. If you are applying to a Dalhousie graduate program, you can also apply to do a RADIANT certificate at the same time.  Students from these graduate faculties are eligible:

  • Science (including Psychology, Chemistry, Biology)
  • Computer Science, Management (MBA)
  • Medicine (including Anatomy and Neurobiology, Physiology & Biophysics, Pharmacology, and Biochemistry)
  • Management (MBA)
  • Engineering (including the School of Biomedical Engineering)
  • Health Professions (including Audiology, Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, and Clinical Vision Sciences)

TNT I and TNT II can be done sequentially.  Normally, it is expected that students will complete TNT I during their Master's degree, and if they continue on, do TNT II during their PhD degree. While doing both is advised if you continue on to a PHD,  the TNT I is a stand alone certificate awarded on completion of your Masters' degree and the following requisites:

  • PSYO 7701.03 RADIANT Seminar;
  • PSYO 7705.06 Summer Institute --- Neurotechnology Innovation, Commercialization, and Entrepreneurship (NICE);
  • A thesis or research project supervised by at least one member of the RADIANT faculty and approved by the RADIANT Management Committee (NB: This can be your Master's thesis);
  • One Professional Development Workshop per year.

The TNT II certificate is awarded if you have a TNT I certificate and you complete your PhD along with the following requisites: 

  • PSYO 7711.03 Innovating Neurotechnology I;
  • PSYO 7712.03 Innovating Neurotechnology II;
  • A thesis or other research project  supervised by at least one member of the RADIANT faculty and approved by the RADIANT Management Committee (NB: This can be your PHD thesis);
  • One-term internship with a RADIANT partner in industry, government lab or business development;
  • Students must also attend one RADIANT approved Professional Development Workshop per year.
