Smart Infrastructure

The MacEachen Institute examines the complex policy space of critical infrastructure (CI), the essential physical and cyber assets on which we depend every day. Transportation and banking, electric power supply, telecommunications, food and water distribution systems – all embody the innovation, vulnerability, interdependence and resilience of modern society. Climate change, global security, health threats and the mere aging of this infrastructure threaten our potential. Scientific advancements, green technologies, new international partnerships, strategic investments and more holistic approaches to governance present considerable opportunity to distribute risks more effectively, enhance our adaptive capacity and create more prosperous communities.
