Atlantic Canada and the World

The MacEachen Institute supports research that explores and advances Atlantic Canada in its national and international contexts. These initiatives bear directly on critical policy areas such as demography, security, sustainability and regional economic development. The Institute fosters new academic research and public dialogue on issues where Atlantic Canada can lead: regional immigration and patterns of out-migration; trade-offs in transitions from non-renewable to renewable energy; economic diversification; coastal development and climate adaptation; management of natural and marine resources; relations between Indigenous peoples and government agencies; maritime security and naval policy.
