Since 1967, the Killam Bequest has provided more than $60 million to Dalhousie University including the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Scholarships for master's and PhD students, and postdoctoral fellows. This scholarship allows its recipients to conduct outstanding research and make significant contributions to their intellectual communities.
The Killam Scholarship recognizes the very best in graduate and postgraduate education. Dalhousie is one of only four universities in Canada to award Killam Scholarships and Prizes, which have made a huge difference in the lives and research of its recipient graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
The Killam Trusts reach far beyond graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, by way of prestigious awards for faculty. These financial awards are known as Killam Fellowships, Killam Professorships, Killam Prizes and Killam Chairs. The awards go to professors whose research has made an outstanding contribution in their field of study.
Killam Lecture Series
The Trusts host the Killam Annual Lecture series which is an annual event consisting of lectures by renowned scholars on topical themes. The lectures are free to the public and are designed to stimulate public discussion and support for research at the graduate and postdoctoral levels at Canadian universities.
