The Dalhousie University Board of Governors and CUPE Local 3912 have successfully reached a tentative collective agreement. The bargaining teams met with the government conciliator today (Monday, October 20) and were able to resolve the remaining outstanding items.
Because a tentative agreement has been reached, CUPE will not be taking strike action tomorrow. Classes will proceed as scheduled on Tuesday, October 21.
The parties would like to extend their appreciation to all bargaining team members who volunteered their time to be involved in this important process.
A tentative agreement means both parties have agreed to the terms of a collective agreement, which will need to be agreed to or ratified by CUPE members and the university’s Board. The details of the tentative deal will be made available following the ratification of the agreement by both the Board and the membership of CUPE.
CUPE represents part-time academics at Dal along with Teaching Assistants (TAs), Markers, and Demonstrators.
