Dalhousie Board welcomes conciliation opportunity with DFA, offers to meet earlier to resolve labour disruption
Thursday, September 4, 2025
Yesterday, the provincially appointed conciliator requested that the teams representing the Dalhousie Board of Governors and the Dalhousie Faculty Association (DFA) return to conciliation on Monday, September 8. The Board welcomes the opportunity to continue to work towards resolving the current labour disruption.
On Tuesday, September 2, the Board team shared a revised formal offer with the DFA leadership.
- The offer maintains the Board’s position on interest arbitration for wages and addresses all remaining non-monetary issues, including increasing parental leave and offering additional permanent positions.
In sharing the offer, the Board made its willingness to discuss the offer at any time clear to the DFA leadership.
This morning, we informed the DFA leadership that we are available to meet and work towards an agreement today (Thursday), tomorrow, or over the weekend. Time is of the essence for our students, our faculty, and our entire Dalhousie community. If talks can be productive, and result in an outcome that allows our academic mission to resume in full, we see no reason to wait until Monday.
