Permits & Parking

Permit parking - Halifax

In order to park legally on University property (Halifax campuses or Agricultural Campus), vehicles must either display a valid permit, a valid Pay and Display ticket or use a parking meter. To qualify for a parking permit, an applicant must be a Dalhousie University employee or student with a valid Dalhousie ID.

PLEASE NOTE:

The purchase of a general parking permit does not guarantee a parking spot. Refunds are available only within 30 days of purchase.

There are more than 24,000 people who come to Dalhousie daily, and approximately 2000 available spots.

Not all permit types may be available. There are a limited number of permits available, and currently permits for outdoor reserved lots (Dunn and CSB 4) are at capacity. There is a wait list that has more than 200 people on it and will take at least two years before spots are available.

Daily, weekly and monthly parking permits are no longer available. Visitors may use our Pay and Display parking lot or meters.

A 2017-18 Dalhousie parking permit cannot be purchased until all unpaid Dalhousie parking tickets are paid.

  • All unpaid Dalhousie University parking tickets can be paid at the Security Services Office, located on the parking level of the Marion McCain Building, 6135 University Avenue.  Alternatively, you can mail a cheque to Security Services, PO Box 15000, Halifax, NS, B3H 4R2.
