Emergency Steam Shutdown

Posted by Admin on June 29, 2017 in News

There will be no heat or hot water available to most buildings on Studley campus from approximately 10:00 a.m. today (NOW) until late this afternoon. The Department of Facilities Management must conduct emergency repairs in the tunnels today and that requires an emergency steam shutdown. A list of all affected buildings can be found below.

Unfortunately this work cannot be delayed. Facilities Management staff will work as quickly and safely as possible to return the service.

Power will still be available.

Equipment that will be affected includes:

  • Autoclaves
  • Sterilizers
  • Cage Washers
  • Dishwashers

The majority of people on campus may notice that only cold water will be available in washrooms later in the day.

The complete list of affected buildings is:

  • Dalplex
  • LSC
  • Shireff Hall
  • Chase Building
  • Hicks Building
  • Chemistry Building
  • Macdonald Building
  • University Club
  • Marion McCain
  • Killam Library
  • Howe Hall
  • Sir James Dunn
  • Kings
