Let’s talk about RESPECT

Jill Marie McSweeney, IDPhD (Candidate)
Educational Developer (Graduate Students)

In honour of RESPECT WEEK across the Dalhousie campuses, September’s discussion group will focus on the concept of respect within the context of classrooms, teacher-student relationships, and teaching and learning. This will be an informal, safe, and open environment where faculty, staff, and graduate students can share their own experiences, understandings, and approaches with/of/to respect. Attendees will be encouraged to engage in a self-reflective activity prior to attending which will challenge their own perspectives and definitions of respect.

Questions to consider: What does respect mean to you? What does respect mean to your students? Is respect earned or given? How does one teach with respect? How do you approach disrespectful behaviour from colleagues and students?
