DalBlend - Exploring Blended Learning

Three-Part Workshop Series
DalBlend - Exploring Blended Learning

*This series is only open to faculty and sessional instructors

Would you like to enhance student learning? Would you like to discover new ways to engage learners online to facilitate active learning in the classroom? Blended learning combines face-to-face and online methods in an integrated approach to provide an enriched student learning experience.
DalBlend is a three-part workshop series for faculty and sessional instructors to be offered on January 24th, February 28th, and March 21st (9 a.m. - 12 p.m. all three dates) in B400, Killam Library. It will encourage you to work with colleagues to consider how this blended approach can provide your students with increased opportunities to more deeply explore ideas and concepts within your course.
CLT facilitators will use a combination of face-to-face activities, online resources from our DalBlend site, and guest presenters, to involve participants in exploring ways to design and develop a blended course.
Participants are strongly encouraged to commit to all three sessions and to a modest amount of homework prior to each session to optimize learning and outcomes. Registration is required. Participants interested in redesigning their courses for blended learning are welcome to seek one-on-one consultations with a member of the CLT eLearning team.

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • reconceptualize their courses in a blended learning
  • framework utilize course design principles and effective practices in designing a blended course
  • identify a variety of online tools for designing a blended course
  • reflect upon how student and instructor roles change in a blended course
