Hazing

Dalhousie's traditions don't include intimidation

Everyone at Dalhousie shares responsibility for welcoming and orienting new members of our community in positive ways. Welcoming and orientation activities can be structured to provide a safe, fun and positive learning environment, while respecting the dignity of all community members.

Students are responsible for understanding and identifying hazing activities and behaviour. Dalhousie University does not tolerate hazing in any form. Any person or group involved in planning, implementing or participating—actively or passively—in hazing is subject to disciplinary action as outlined in the Code of Student Conduct.

Both current and new members of groups can confront hazing, suggest positive traditions, and report incidences of hazing. It takes courage to challenge hazing, but Dalhousie students can make a difference, take a stand, and demand more from each other.

Visit the Student Code of Conduct webpage for more information.
