» Go to news mainInformation about returning to residence in September 2023
In the past, all students living in residence who applied to return to residence were offered a place in residence. However, with the demand for residence growing, it has become necessary to limit the number of places available in residence for returning students.
What Does this Mean?
Residence applications for the 2023/24 year will open on October 21, 2022. Applications to return to residence must be submitted between October 21, 2022 and December 2, 2022 in order to be considered. However, assigning of the 100 spaces available to returning students will be done on a first-come, first-served basis, so applying early is important.
Students will be notified in January 2023 when they return from the holiday break on the status of their application and if they were successful in securing a residence room for September 2023. All other students can remain on the waitlist but will need to confirm their intent to remain on the list by February 6, 2023. It is very important to realize that remaining on the waitlist does not guarantee that a room will be available. It could be late summer that waitlisted applicants will be notified, so it is important to have an alternative plan in place for September 2023.
New MENTOR Positions will be available in residence for returning students!
We are creating a new mentor position in residence for next year. Students who are selected to be an upper year mentor are guaranteed a space in residence! Please look for more details to come and confirmation for when the application will open.
(This is in addition to all the Residence Life Student Leader positions which will also be open to applications in the coming weeks. Students who are selected to be CATs are also guaranteed a space in residence.)
Get Your Application in Early
We know it may seem early to be thinking about housing for next fall already but we want to make sure students have this information as soon as possible. In this way it’s our hope that you will have ample time to make plans and search for off-campus housing as early as possible if you are not returning to residence. To assist with this process, information is available on our Off-campus Housing website. On it students will find a link to our partner listing service, Places4Students, along with other valuable resources for anyone considering living off campus.
Any questions on these changes can be sent to residence@dal.ca.
