ResLife Learning Communities
Live with people who share your goals and your interests
ResLife Learning Communities are an innovative approach to living and learning at Dalhousie. They foster a strong sense of personal development and community by bringing together students with similar interests or fields of study into a shared residence setting.
Six Reasons to live in a ResLife Learning Community (RLLC)
The people in your RLLC share similar interests and values as you, which helps form friendships and build community from day one. That sense of community is strengthened through great programming and events.
Each RLLC has a live-in student staff member (Residence Assistant) who is trained specifically to support RLLCs and who helps mentor and support you.
3. Small size
RLLCs are often placed in smaller communities on campus, such as specific houses, floors, or even buildings. The smaller size can be less intimidating if you’re entering residence for the first time. Our RLLCs range in size from 13 to 20 spaces.
4. Study buddies
When you live in a RLLCs, you have academic help available right outside your door. Since many of your neighbours in RLLCs are enrolled in the same (or similar) programs, everyone can come together to help each other out with studying.
The activities run by RAs focus on the themes of the individual RLLCs. For example, students in the Health & Wellness RLLC have gone on hiking and skating trips and the Engineering RLLC has had bridge-building competitions.
6. Personal development
You grow as an individual and develop a stronger sense of self by engaging with various communities—from your specific RLLC, to the Dalhousie community and beyond. RLLCs complement and contribute to your academic success and help you discover and hone skills you didn’t even know you had.
Please indicate on your Residence Application if you are interested in living in an Academic or Themed ResLife Learning Community.
