Dal After Dark

Watch a movie in a swimming pool. Sweat it out at a hot yoga session. Battle it out in a boardgame. Learn some cool circus tricks. That's just some of the fun, free/low-cost, alcohol-free activities you can participate in with Dal After Dark.

Join the fun and make new friends every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. Check the website or Facebook page for up-to-date info and schedules.

Dalhousie Arts Centre

The Dalhousie Arts Centre is the home of some of the top entertainment events in Halifax. With three theatres, including the 1,023-seat Rebecca Cohn Auditorium, the Arts Centre is the place to see everything from big-name concerts, Symphony Nova Scotia shows, touring comedy acts, and theatrical events from Dal's own Fountain School of Performing Arts.

Live music

Halifax is a musical town, and Dal does more than its fair share to keep the beat going. At the Dal Arts Centre, you can take in performances by touring musical acts, students from Dal's Fountain School of Performing Arts, and Symphony Nova Scotia (check out their Fusion Series concerts this year with Buck 65, Rich Aucoin, Ben Caplan, Dan Mangan, and Meaghan Smith!).

The DSU's two student pubs, The Grawood on Studley Campus and The T-Room on Sexton Campus, both offer live music—everything from open mic nights and coffee houses to touring bands.

Dalhousie Art Gallery

The Dalhousie Art Gallery, found in the lower level of the Dal Arts Centre, is a renowned public art gallery offering both travelling and in-house curated exhibitions of contemporary and historical art. There's also a great film and video series, artists' presentations and lectures, and even a popular annual show of Dal student, staff, and faculty work.

Theatre

Among its three theatres, the Dal Arts Centre is the perfect spot to check out live theatre productions. Yes, there are touring shows and that drop by and local productions that use our spaces, but it's the student productions from the Fountain School of Performing Arts that you really need to see. It's your chance to see the top-calibre performances and stage production that emerges from our very own classrooms.
