There are also plenty of programs offered for novice to advanced climbers.
Fitness classes & programs
From personal training to free drop-in group fitness classes and fee-based ones, Dalplex and Sexton Gym have a wide variety of classes, programs, and lessons, including body strong, boot camp, kickboxing, spin, step, yoga, and zumba.
Build your skills and improve your health among peers! Group counselling is available for anxiety, stress, eating disorders, grief, resilience and more.
Health & Dental Insurance
All full-time students are automatically enrolled in the DSU Health and Dental Plan that provides you with insurance coverage for medical, dental, travel, accident, vision, and many other services. If you’re an international student, you're automatically enrolled and billed for the DSU International Student Health Plan, providing coverage for visits with a doctor.
The DSU Health Plan(s) are mandatory unless you have comparable coverage. Visit the website for information about opting out of the plan(s).
Intramurals & Sport Clubs
There are over 25 different intramural leagues, mini-leagues, and tournaments—everything from soccer, flag football, and hockey in the fall, to curling, basketball, and inner tube water polo in the winter. Space is limited, and thousands of students play intramurals every year, so register early. Online registration opens at the end of August (click on the IMLeagues Login button). Ways to register:
- talk to your residence or faculty sports rep to join a residence or faculty team
- get a group of friends together and enter your own team
- sign up on IMLeagues as a free agent to connect with other teams and/or be placed on a team
Looking for something a bit more competitive? Dal has more than 25 sport clubs, including baseball, badminton, cheerleading, curling, dance, football, field hockey, rowing, rugby, and sailing.

As a Dal student, you also have access to a library of online and mobile health resources. From building your resilience through the Q Life program, to texting a counsellor from your phone, there are many ways you can take care of and improve your health right from home!
