External Opportunities

In addition to the university-wide and departmental exchange programs, study abroad programs, or faculty-led courses, you may also choose to pursue study opportunities through external organizations.

If you're interested in a program or university that isn't a Dalhousie partner, we would love to hear about it! Here are some great reasons to meet with Dal’s study abroad and exchange advisor about your external pursuits.

1) Receive support from your exchange advisor with:

  • Confusing parts of your application
  • Help navigating visas
  • Help navigating the administrative steps you need to follow at Dal
  • Advice about funding
  • Access to Dal’s pre-departure preparation materials
  • Become part of a network of students going abroad
  • Getting in touch with students who have been to or are from your destination country
  • A contact person at Dal who can help you with your International Experience even when you are abroad
  • Emergency response from Dalhousie if required

2) It helps us pursue new agreements that are in line with your interests.

Many short programs offered in the summer term are designed to provide you with an international experience that encapsulates the culture and history of the region. While some of these are offered by our exchange partners on a fee-paying basis, there are many more programs that come to the attention of Dalhousie’s International Centre.
