Dental care for students
The Faculty of Dentistry operates an undergraduate student clinic, a general practice residency clinic, an emergency clinic, and a faculty practice (private) clinic on the Halifax campus.
Undergraduate Student Clinic
The Student Clinic offers dental services at approximately 50% of the normal cost (according to the Nova Scotia Dental Fee Guide). The clinic is designed to facilitate education and training for current undergraduate dental students. All appointments are supervised by a licensed dentist and typically last between two and three hours. Services include: fillings, cleanings, root canals, extractions, crowns, and implants. General Practice Residency Clinic
The General Practice Residency Clinic offers comprehensive dental services at approximately 80% of the normal cost. This clinic provides care for patients who require more difficult and extensive dental treatments by graduate dentists. Contact the general practice residency clinic by calling (902) 494-2101.
The undergraduate students provide emergency dental treatment under the direction of a Faculty of Dentistry dentist. Anyone who is experiencing pain, bleeding, or swelling can often receive treatment the same day. If you have a dental emergency, contact the clinic at(902) 494-2101.
Faculty Practice Dental Clinic
The Faculty Practice Dental clinic is currently accepting new patients. This is a private clinic, located in the Faculty of Dentistry building. Made up of a group of full-time teaching faculty members, the clinic provides general and prosthodontic dental services including:
- examinations and consultations
- general dentistry
- cosmetic dentistry
- dental implants
- crowns and bridges
- dentures and partial dentures
- dental extractions and surgery
