Societies

There are over 250 active societies ratified with the DSU each year! Get in touch with any of our listed societies to get more involved. If you can't find the society you’re looking for, why not start a new one?

How to join a society:

Interested in joining a society but aren’t sure how to go about it?
Check out the step-by-step process on how to join an existing society:

  1. Search up topics or hobbies that are relevant to your interests on the website.

  2. Email a Society or find them on social media. Societies love hearing from students!

  3. Show up at their events!

Questions to ask:

  1. Can anyone join your society/am I eligible to join your society? What are the requirements to join your society?

  2. When are your regular meetings?

  3. What events do you have coming up?

Can’t find a society you’re looking for? Why not start your own?

For new societies:

  1. Email the Societies and Programming Coordinator (dsusocieties@dal.ca) with the name and description of your proposed society.

  2. The Coordinator will check that there is not already an existing society with that same purpose. If your society is unique, you will be sent a ratification form with further instructions.
