Adding Courses

To register for classes,
login to Dal Online and follow this path:
Registration > Add/Drop Classes > Select Term > Submit

You'll arrive at the Add/Drop Classes screen:

How to add a course

In the entry fields at the bottom of the screen, enter the Course Reference Numbers (CRN) for the courses in which you wish to register, then click Submit Changes. CRNs are listed on the Academic Timetable.
The courses you've chosen will be listed on the screen under the Current Schedule heading.

Wait lists

If a course is full, you'll receive an error message after trying to register for it. If there is space available on the wait list, there will be an option on the left of this error message for you to add yourself to the wait list for this course.

To get your name on a wait list:

Select WtList from the drop-down menu and select Submit again. The course will appear in your Current Schedule section of the Add/Drop Classes page, with a Wait Listed status, but the course won't appear on your Schedule by Day & Time page until you are actually registered for the course.

Keep checking your registration status page to see if permission has been granted. Once you've received permission, you have three days to register. To register for a course after you've received permission, you will need to first drop the class and then add it again as per the instructions above for adding courses.

For more detailed instructions, see Dal Online's Help.

Need to add a course after the registration deadline has passed?

Once the deadline to add courses has passed, you will need to use a Class Add/Drop Form [PDF-134 kb] to register for courses. Fill out the form with the courses you want to add, and take it to the professor(s) of the course(s) to approve. Once you have their signatures of approval on the form, take it to the Registrar's Office to have the courses added for you. Please contact Student Accounts for information on late fees.

You can also use this form to add or drop courses if you have holds on your online registration. There may be some cases where course additions are not permitted due to holds. You can check with the Registrar's Office for more information.
