A degree in International Development Studies provides a great background for many social careers, including:

Further your education

IDS undergraduates can pursue a master's degree in international development at Dalhousie, or a doctorate elsewhere. However, many other options are available to IDS undergraduates once they graduate. IDS is a liberal arts program that allows you to take courses offered in other programs for an IDS credit. It is an interdisciplinary program. The intellectual methods and tools of academic study in the program make it very transferable.

Many of our graduates go on to do applied technical or professional degrees in education, law, or one of the health professions. Recent graduates have gone on to do:

  • MA and Phd in International¬† Development, Geography or Sociology and Social Anthropology
  • Education
  • Law
  • Master of Public Administration
  • MBA in non-profit management
  • Master of Health Administration
  • Medicine or other health professions
