Study abroad opportunities

University-wide exchanges

Some of your most life-changing experiences at university can take place in another country. Dalhousie Student Exchange Services (DSES) provides students with information about programs and plenty of inspiration to encourage students to study abroad.

All Dalhousie University students can take advantage of the following exchanges and study abroad opportunities:

  • Exchange opportunities: Dalhousie has university exchange partners around the world. We can also help to arrange an exchange with a university not on our list.
  • Study abroad programs: Spend a year at Oxford University, the Bader International Study Centre at Herstmonceux Castle, the Universities of Edinburgh or St. Andrew’s in Scotland, or the University of Dublin, Trinity College, in Ireland.

Other exchange opportunities

Because you’ll do the Film Studies minor within another major subject of study through either the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences or through the Faculty of Science, you might be eligible to participate in a particular exchange or study abroad experience through those faculties.

Students in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences are encouraged to consider taking their third year abroad. Students interested in this opportunity should consult their particular department for more information on specific programs.

The Faculty of Science offers student exchanges to a number of universities in Europe through the the Canadian European Union Cooperation Program in Higher Education and Training, or the Trans-Atlantic Science Student Exchange Program (TASSEP).

Through TASSEP, you could arrange to take science courses for one or two terms at a university in Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Scotland, Ireland, France, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Belgium, or Spain.
