Career opportunities

Preparing you for the challenges of the future

The unique interdisciplinary approach of the ESS program prepares you for jobs in virtually any area across society: public service, industry, not-for-profit, and the private sector. You could pursue a challenging and rewarding career in domains from health to education, the sciences or urban planning—to name just a few.

Depending on the program you combine with ESS, you might be employed as

  • an urban planner
  • an architect
  • a researcher in government or a not-for-profit organization
  • a sustainability or corporate social responsibility (CSR) consultant
  • a marine biologist
  • a teacher or educator
  • a journalist
  • or to whatever career your passions lead you.

Every year, the College of Sustainability organizes the Green Jobs Fair, giving students in the ESS program the opportunity to find out where they'll be able to put their knowledge and skills to work once they graduate. Featuring local Nova Scotia businesses and organizations, a panel discussion allows students to ask green employers about the green job market.
