Keerthana Kumar talks about her second Co‑op term

Keerthana

This Co-op placement definitely has helped me become more confident that I am in the field that sparks my passion and enthusiasm for technology

Keerthana Kumar is a Bachelor of Computer Science student.

Through the Co-op program, she landed a work term at Jazz Aviation LP as a System Analyst. In her work term, Keerthana worked on creating an internal web application for maintenance tools for flights that will help the staff in the maintenance and repair process of aircraft.

“This Co-op placement definitely has helped me become more confident that I am in the field that sparks my passion and enthusiasm for technology,” she says. “During my Co-op, I was also assured again that computer science can be applied any field or department.”

After this work term, Keerthana says she is definitely more interested in the aviation field now that she can make an actual real-life connection between aviation and computer science.

When asked if Keerthana believes that her Co-op experiences to date have helped her prepare for her future, she talks about how they have provided her with such new experiences, skills, and knowledge that she would be able to carry on with her throughout her future career – and not just the technical skills, but the team and people skills.

Offering advice to students about to embark on the search for their first Co-op term, Keerthana says “Apply to all the job postings when looking for your work term as it’s a time to explore and learn more about what you enjoy working on – or what you don’t.”

“I would suggest everyone to apply for Co-op as it definitely has given me great work experience and it is nice to be able to apply what we learn in classes to real life.”
