My interests are place-centred, historical, and theoretical—in Nova Scotia and the Maritimes, in a broad period between the Napoleonic Wars of the early 19th century and World War II in the mid 20th century. Dalhousie, as the leading graduate school in Nova Scotia, was a natural choice.
What inspires me
The central task of this generation is the renewal and reconstruction of civil society. The recovery of our own history and traditions provides some of the intellectual capital required for this task. I hope to contribute to this with my own work.
