Call for Partnership

Share the Road is seeking your participation!

The Dalhousie Transportation Collaboratory (DalTRAC) strives to build on the pilot project success of the Share the Road campaign.

Share the Road is a community-based awareness campaign that promotes positive attitudes toward safely sharing the road among motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. The successful pilot project took place in 2012 in three municipalities: Halifax Regional Municipality, the Municipality of the District of Chester, and Pictou County.

Looking forward, DalTRAC hopes to expand the Share the Road campaign to reach most Nova Scotia communities using the lessons learned and materials developed from the pilot project.

Key Objectives:

  • Creating a province-wide network of partners for the campaign across Nova Scotia;
  • Expanding the Share the Road campaign to engage municipalities, and other traditional and non-traditional partners; and
  • Testing innovative engagement strategies, including social media, for sharing roadsafety knowledge and awareness.

How Can You Get Involved?

Join the movement by partnering with us (see Waterloo example: http://thumbsupwr.com/). You can become a partner in one of the following ways:

1) Active Network Partner: Directly contributing by providing financial support for the project. Through a funding partnership, we are able to customize the design and supply the promotional material specifically to the needs of your community or organization.

2) Flexible Network Partner: Partner either by offering a financial contribution to cover the direct cost of supplying the generic materials, or be provided with the open source material, allowing you to customize and reproduce the promotional material at your own cost and convenience.

3) Passive Network Partner: Contributing through a commitment to distribute the promotional material provided with no cost to your community or organization.

“Thumbs Up” Campaign

The concept for the Share the Road awareness campaign involves a positive “Thumbs Up” approach that was designed by the community through a consultation process. In the last two years, the campaign was tested in three pre-selected communities in Nova Scotia. With support from the Department of Energy’s Nova Scotia Moves Grant we are expanding the campaign across Nova Scotia.
