POSITION: Part-Time Academic
THEA 1800.06: Introduction to Acting & Performance (2 sections)
January 1 – April 30, 2016
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Fountain School of Performing Arts
PAY RATE: As per CUPE Collective Agreement
WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic is required to teach and grade two sections of THEA 1800.06: Introduction to Acting & Performance from January 1 to April 30, 2016.
Duties include but are not limited to assignment preparation and participation in the evaluation of students who wish to enter the acting program. The successful candidate will work in consultation and coordination with the full-time faculty and supervise the work of one teaching assistant.
This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: BA, BFA, or equivalent in Theatre (Acting), plus professional acting experience. Previous experience in teaching acting at a university level is essential, as is evidence of strong teaching effectiveness. Familiarity with the Dalhousie University Acting Program is considered an asset.

WORK ASSIGNMENT: This Part-Time Academic is required to teach and grade THEA 3800.06: Acting III from January 1 to April 30, 2016.
Duties include but are not limited to preparation of assignments and evaluation of students’ written and performance work. This academic/practitioner will instruct students in style, physical comedy, and classical comedy techniques, preparing them for an in-class presentation of scenes or a one-act play from the classical repertoire.
This position reports to the Director of the Fountain School of Performing Arts.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Minimum of a MA/MFA in Theatre, or equivalent academic or professional qualifications. Previous experience of teaching acting in a professional training program or at the university level is essential, as is evidence of strong teaching effectiveness.
