Following public outcry, Toronto police are reviewing their policy on "carding" — the practice of stopping citizens, among them a disproportionate number of young black men — and asking them to provide identification and answer questions.
Against this backdrop, sociologist Chris Murphy joins Shad to discuss how wider police culture feeds into "street check" rationale, and why there seems to be a disconnect between public opinion and institutional practice.
