Dalhousie University and CUPE Local 3912 will begin conciliation. Dates have been scheduled for November 3 and November 17. Both parties agreed that conciliation is necessary to successfully reach a collective agreement.
Conciliation is the process of intervention in collective bargaining by a neutral third party, called a conciliator, with negotiation experience.
Negotiations have been ongoing with the university and CUPE Local 3912 since April 2014.
CUPE Local 3912 represents more than 1,200 part-time academics, teaching assistants, markers and demonstrators. The Local 3912 collective agreement expired on August 31, 2012.
