Congrats to Lesley Choyce, whose 2013 book Jeremy Stone (Red Deer Press) has been selected as one of the five finalists for the Governor General's Award for Children's Literature (text). The young adult novel tells the story of Jeremy, a First Nations teenage boy who moves from a reserve school to a new school in a new community, trying to find out where he fits in the world.
Lesley, a senior instructor in the Department of English, is an award-winning author and poet, spoken word artist and publisher with a special interest in Atlantic literature and creative writing. His book The Republic of Nothing was in the Top 40 finalists for CBC's Canada Reads and his poetry collection I'm Alive. I Believe in Everything received the Atlantic Poetry Prize.
