Now that summer has arrived there is no excuse for not venturing outside and looking up at the night sky! Come by the Halifax Planetarium, first, to learn of the seasonal constellations and some interesting stellar objects that are visible.

The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for working with the course professor in this course to ensure that the course runs efficiently and effectively. Evaluation of student performance and participation on an ongoing basis will be expected of the TA in this role. The Teaching Assistant reports to the course professor.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Individuals interested in applying for this position should have outstanding organizational and communication skills, should work well with others and be self-motivated independent workers. The successful applicant will be familiar with and interested in current issues related to leadership in the Canadian health care context. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Experience with BLS is an asset. Masters student is preferred but those with relevant undergraduate preparation and experience will be considered.

Work Assignment: The instructor is responsible for all aspects of teaching and administration for the class, including course preparation for distance delivery, lectures, test preparation and evaluation of students. In addition, the instructor should be available on-line for consultation with students.
This 26-week seminar and practicum class is designed to enable students to identify and assume new roles as occupational therapists. This course is based on our understanding that individuals' occupational engagement can be supported or constrained by the environments in which they live, work and play. Environments are largely constructed by the services, systems, and policies that humans establish. In this course, students will partner with organizational clients to enable them to more effectively meet the occupational needs of their clients, consumers and/or members. Students are provided with the opportunity to develop their abilities to assume the role of consultant. Using the Canadian Practice Process Framework to guide their interactions with their organizational clients, students will explore and identify how to use theory while enabling occupation. Students are responsible for identifying and negotiating agreements with organizational clients. The course coordinator must approve each student's proposed practicum project. Students are provided with regular opportunities to receive feedback, guidance, and support from the course coordinator and classmates through journaling assignments.
Requirements of position: Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy (Post-Professional) plus previous teaching and supervisory experience with graduate students, and web-based distance education technology preferred. Occupational Therapy applicants must provide proof of registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia or equivalent in their own jurisdiction.
