Women’s Soccer

The Tigers came away with just one point this weekend after a 2-2 draw against Acadia and 1-0 loss to UPEI. The women’s soccer team now finds themselves outside the AUS playoff picture, sitting in seventh place.

On Friday night, the ladies were in Wolfville playing the Acadia Axewomen under the lights at Raymond Field. Despite holding a lead for the majority of the game, a late goal by Kinsella Noseworthy-Smith forced the Tigers to settle for the draw.

Rachelle Lalande scored just four minutes into the game off a feed from Doriana Homerski giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead that would hold until the second half. Meghan Earle tied things up at 1-1 in the 55th minute. Kristy McGregor-Bales continued her hot 2015 campaign scoring her third goal of the year in the 70th minute. Noseworthy-Smith scored in 87th minute stealing the win from the Tigers.

The ladies were back at home on Saturday hosting the UPEI Panthers. Things did not go according to plan for the Tigers who out chanced and out-shot the Panthers, but could not manage to capitalize on their opportunities.

The lone goal of the match came off a free kick from Jerika Gimpel that found the head of Emilie Pelletier in the 61st minute. UPEI would hang on taking the match by a score of 1-0.

The Tigers have five games left in the regular season and will need a couple of wins to solidify a playoff berth. Next up on the schedule is the Saint Mary’s Huskies on October 16 at Wickwire Field.

Men’s Soccer

Friday, the boys played against the Acadia Axemen who sat one point ahead of the Tigers at the time. It was crucial to come away with anything but a loss to stop Acadia’s point lead from growing. The two sides battled to a 2-2 draw.

Acadia scored the only goal of the first half in seventh minute off the foot of Travis Fenning. Zach Mbolekwa started his huge three-goal weekend with two back-to-back goals in the second half giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead.
