Track Tigers grab 13th AUS championship in last 14 years

(MONCTON, N.B.) – The Dalhousie Tigers claimed both the men's and women's championship banners at the 2015 Subway AUS Track and Field Championships hosted at the Université de Moncton this weekend.

Josh Lunda – 1^st 60m Sprint, 1^st 4x200m Relay
Will Russell – 1^st 4x800 Relay, 2^nd 1000m Run
Isaac Norman – 1^st 4x200m Relay, 3^rd 300m Sprint
Audley Cummings – 1^st 60m Hurdles
JP Wellington – 1^st 4x200m Relay
Corey Conforzi – 1^st 4x200m Relay

The Dalhousie men's squad earned 148.5 points and their 13^th championship banner in 14 years. The Tigers' 12-year streak was broken last year by the StFX X-Men. But the Tigers have found themselves back on top once again this season.

The UNB Varsity Reds men's team claimed second place with 96 points and the StFX X-Men finished third with 87 points.

The host Aigles Bleus' men's and women's teams both finished in fourth place.

StFX's MacKenzie Munroe, a fifth-year arts student in his third year of eligibility from Yarmouth, N.S., earned the honour on the men's side.

Dalhousie's Jordan Bruce (Dartmouth, N.S.), a third-year arts student, was named male field athlete of the year, while AUS rookie of the year honours went to Dalhousie's Joshua Lunda (Cole Harbour, N.S.).

Aigles Bleus team captain Alexandre Coholan (Moncton, N.B.) was the recipient of the men's student-athlete community service award. Coholan volunteers as a first-year students mentor at Université de Moncton. He also volunteers for an array of other organizations, including, but not limited to, the Greater Moncton Dragon Boat Festival and the Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre.

Coholan also gives anti-bullying awareness presentations to local high schools on the topics of discrimination, intimidation and homophobia.

The Tigers Chas Smith (Warwick, Bermuda), earned Subway athlete of the meet honours on the men's side. He earned gold in men's long jump and men's triple jump and bronze in the men's high jump.

Head coach of the Dalhousie Tigers teams, Rich Lehman, earned AUS coach of the year honours on both the men's and women's side.
