Dalhousie University presents our G2 Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 18, 2015.
Phoebe Lenderyou, Swimming
First-year swimmer Phoebe Lenderyou is this week’s G2 Female Athlete of the Week.
In her first meet with the Tigers, Lenderyou lead Dal to its fourth championship title so far this season. She claimed first place finishes in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke events and the 50m butterfly, setting new Dal and AUS records in each. Lenderyou also swam the lead in the Tigers first-place medley relay, bettering her earlier 100m backstroke record by two tenths of a second. As the lead swimmer in the Tigers first-place 4x100m freestyle relay, she set a CIS-qualifying time for the 100m freestyle event.
By the end of the meet, Lenderyou had six first place finishes, set five new DAL and AUS records and qualified for five CIS events.
A management student, Phoebe is from Newcastle, England.

Bryan Duquette, Volleyball
Fifth-year left side hitter Bryan Duquette is this week’s G2 Male Athlete of the Week.
Duquette had an outstanding weekend, leading the Tigers to a 3-0 record at the third and final AUS-RSEQ Interlock in Laval, Quebec.
In their first match against Montreal, Duquette had a total of 24.5 points in the Tigers 3-1 victory. He recorded a game-high 20 kills and added 12 digs. In their first of two matches on Saturday, he had 15 kills, six block assists and nine digs for a total of 19.0 points in the Tigers 3-0 win over Sherbrooke. In their final match of the weekend, Duquette had six kills and four digs, helping the Tigers to a 3-0 win over the CIS defending champions.
Over the course of the weekend, Duquette had 54 points, including 41 kills and 25 digs. He continues to lead the AUS in points per set, digs per set and in hitting (attack) efficiency. Duquette continues to elevate his already high level of play as this weekend’s totals were well above his season averages heading into the Interlock.
A native of St. Thomas, O.N., Duquette is a kinesiology student.
