Rebecca Haworth, Track & Field

 

Fourth-year high jumper Rebecca Haworth is this week’s G2 Female Athlete of the Week.

After winning her fourth consecutive AUS high jump event in February, Haworth headed to the 2014 CIS Track and Field Championships ranked number two in the country.

On the last day of the championships, Haworth captured the silver medal, recording a personal best leap of 1.82m. She also set new Dalhousie and Nova Scotia records in the process.

This year’s AUS field athlete of the year, Haworth also received the AUS and CIS Community Service awards this year.

A science student, Rebecca is from Waverley, NS.

Chas Smith, Track and Field

 

First-year jumper Chas Smith is this week’s G2 Male Athlete of the Week.

In just his first season with the Tigers, Smith cracked the top eight in two events at last weekend’s CIS track and field championships.  On Saturday, he placed eighth in the long jump, recording a distance of 6.95m. On Sunday, Smith captured his first CIS medal, claiming bronze in the triple jump, posting a distance of 14.53m.

A native of Warwick, Bermuda, Chas is an engineering student.
