As a result of inappropriate behavior at a rookie initiation party Dalhousie has suspended a number of players on the Women’s Varsity Hockey team from play for the remainder of the 2012-13 season. The effect of these suspensions is that the team will forfeit all of its remaining games in the 2012-13 Women’s Hockey season.

An investigation into events at an off-campus party involving the Women’s Hockey team this fall concluded that a serious hazing incident occurred. Dalhousie does not tolerate such behavior. These actions do not embody the values that lie at the centre of athletics and student life. The university is committed to working with the team and athletic staff to take steps to ensure nothing like this happens again and to ensure the team is ready for the 2013-14 season.
